Delhi Election 2020 – Let’s vote for Dilli

 The campaign by all parties finally got over and the platform is now set for electing 70 members of the Delhi Legislative Assembly including the Chief Minister. All major parties including Aam Admi Party, Bhartiya Janta Party, and National Congress have released their manifestos in which, lots of promises have been made for the betterment of people in the capital city. The election commission had a month ago announced electing date, which will be 8th February 2020 and complete schedule to elect the Legislative assembly. So now we the people of NCT will again get the power to elect our representative.

Let’s see the structure of the NCT Government


 The government of the national capital territory of Delhi is a governing authority of the 11 districts of the country’s capital. This governing authority consists of executive led by the lieutenant governor, the judiciary and the legislature. The legislative assembly here is unicameral i.e. single house and have 70 elected members including the Chief Minister. The lieutenant governor works as an agent of the President but he/she doesn’t carry complete power as the state governor meaning he is an administrator, not a constitutional head.

 The Municipal Corporation of NCT handles the civic administration in the city. The NCT has five local municipal corporations, which are as follows
• North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC),
• South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC),
• East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC),
• New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC)
• Delhi Cantonment Board

 The Delhi police headed by the police commissioner is one of the largest metropolitan police forces in the world. The Delhi Police directly reports to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of Delhi and not the State Government.

Last Date for filing the nomination: 21st January 2020
Nomination Scrutiny: 22nd January 2020
Last date for nomination withdrawal: 24th January 2020
Polling Day: 8th February (from 8 am to 6 pm)
Counting of Votes/Delhi Election 2020 Result: 11th February 2020


CONGRESS


 Mr. Adarsh Shastry , AAP turncoat is going to contest election from the Drka Assembly Constituency. He is one of the well-known faces in the Congress candidate list that everyone even INC will eye upon.
Another important candidate of INC who also once happens to be the identity of AAP is Alka Lamba. She had earlier contested in 2015 on AAP ticket & on and now going to contest on Chandni Chowk Assembly seat on an INC ticket.

 Mr. Haroon Yusuf and  Mr. Arvinder Singh Lovely former cabinet ministers are all set to contest from Ballimaran and Gandhi Nagar, respectively.

 Congress has backed party's state unit chief Subhash Chopra's daughter Shivani from Kalkaji and her competition will the AAP”s candidate Atishi.

 Mr. Yoganand Shastri's former assembly speaker’s daughter Priyanka Singh will contest from RK Puram.

AAM AADMI PARTY


 Arvind Kejriwal, AAP chief and current CM will contest from New Delhi seat while Deputy CM Manish Sisodia is all set for contesting Patparganj assembly constituency seat.

 Parlad Singh Sawhney has got the AAP ticket for election from Chandni Chowk, Vinay Kumar Mishra got the ticket from Dwarka and Dipu Chaudhary got the ticket from Gandhi Nagar.

 The top candidates Raghav Chadha in Rajinder Nagar, Somnath Bharti from Malviya Nagar and Atishi from Klkaji

BHARATIYA JANATA PARTY


 Sunil Yadav is all set to contest against the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in New Delhi constituency assembly.

 Tajinder Bagga the key name in BJP’s candidate list has been fielded from Hari Nagar. The party will make Dharmveer Singh contest in Kalkaji against Atishi of AAP.

 The sitting MLAs of BJP - Vijendra Gupta got the ticket from Rohini constituency, Om Prakash Sharma from Vishwas Nagar constituency and Jagdish Pradhan from Mustafabad constituency.

 Former assembly minister Mr. Kapil Mishra has been fielded from Model Town constituency. He had earlier won Karawal Nagar seat in 2015 on the AAP ticket.

Opinion poll brings good news for the Aam Aadmi Party


As per the three opinion polls conducted by the reputed institutions have predicted the sure-shot win for the Kejriwal led AAP. For 22 years, BJP was unable to make government in Delhi and this may continue for another 5 years. The situation is also doesn't seem favorable for the Congress. As per the opinion poll, INC may stand 3 rd after AAP & BJP.
